The zoo denied it agreed to free the gorilla and give her to another zoo while animal rights activists initiated a petition by collected more than 35,000 signatures calling to free the gorilla. 'Bua Noi' was bought to Thailand and has been held captive at the zoo on the rooftop of a department store for more than 27 years. Her confinement has sparked controversy and protests by animal rights activists who say she needs better living conditions and who are in general against the zoo's location in a shopping center.
