Tattooing Pigs by Wim Delvoye

Designer Wim Delvoye first began tattooing live pigs in the USA in 1997 before animal rights laws forced him to carry on his strange hobby in China.
While activists have slammed the activity, which pulls in a fortune for Delvoye, the artist insists that the pigs are looked after to the point of being spoiled.
Three tattooists work on the animals carefully at once, while they are fully anaesthetised and even given a massage throughout the procedure.
Once the pigs reach the end of their lives, their skins are sold for around £50k a piece and some are even moulded into handbags.
The designs are primarily Disney, with Ariel the mermaid making several appearances on pig canvases, whilst other examples outside the animated franchise include a Louis Vitton logo.
