Thomas, 25, a graduate of the University of Cambridge, developed an interest in the Russian language and culture as a teenager, and left her native town of Congleton, Cheshire in Britain for Lesosibirsk seven months ago to educate Russian trainee teachers in the English language at a local educational institute, a branch of the Siberian Federal University. Thomas has since experienced her first severe Siberian winter and has already made new acquaintances among the local residents.
