The Afghan government and international community have turned their back on female human rights defenders threatened by mounting violence, Amnesty International said 07 April. It said professionals and activists were not only targeted by the Taliban militants but also by warlords and government officials, and face threats, sexual assault and assassinations. There has been a significant progress in media, health and education sectors, but achievement in other areas such as protecting women and human rights and tackling corruption has been limited.
