On 17 June 2015, about 4312 live freshwater turtles and 90 dead ones had been seized in Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan, Philippines. Among the confiscated turtles were more than 3,800 Palawan Forest Turtles (Siebenrockiella leytensis) A critically endangered species under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) which are endemic in northern Palawan.
