Animals Last Week

An annual CAT fashion show benefiting NYC's animals was held at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City on Wednesday, August 5th. Furry fashionistas and their owners came together to honor New York's First Responders and members of the NYC Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad. All proceeds raised will benefit the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals. Costumes and clothing were provided by animal fashion designer Ada Nieves, who designed outfits inspired by the city's police and fire departments. The hotel's cat tradition dates back to the 1930s when a stray cat, later named Matilda, wandered through the hotel's doors looking for food and shelter. (Photo by Ruaridh Connellan/Barcroft Media)
