The KOMSOC is a government enterprise, which was established with full investment from the National Treasury under special law in the year of 1951, as a sole currency manufacturer of the Republic of Korea. Its major function is to manufacture and supply a wide variety of security items for the country such as banknotes, coins, checks, official ID cards, passports, government bonds, various securities, medals, stamps and etc. It also manufactures security papers required for the printed materials.
