October 1-5 in History

Cuddles, a white duck living at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, plays with a lamb named Rosemary and actor Shane Nickerson, 8, on the center's grounds, October 5, 1972. The three are connected with the musical "Pippin," which is playing at the center. Cuddles is still waiting for his chance, but so far he's been kept in the wings and out of the musical because a female duck with the equally improbable name of Otto, hasn't missed a performance.
