1,000 March in Tokyo Calling for Anti-global Warming Actions

A man in polar bear costume leads a march of people through central Tokyo ahead of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, known as the COP21 summit, November 28, 2015. Ahead of the U.N. climate change summit in Paris starting this week, about 1,000 citizens and environmental activists took to the streets of Tokyo on Saturday, calling for strong actions to combat global warming. The parade, joined by people holding banners such as “Climate Action Now,” was part of coordinated demonstrations taking place around the world in the run-up to the 12-day climate conference starting Monday, according to organizers. Some marches have been cancelled in Paris following the November 13 terror attacks. Demonstrators walked the 1.7-kilometer route from Hibiya Park to Tokyo’s Ginza district, chanting phrases such as “Let’s protect our future!” or “Let’s increase renewable energy”.
