A picture made available on 05 December 2015 shows a trainer using a metal tube to launch plastic balls that is later retrieved by a bird locally known as “Wutong”, which is commonly identified by a yellow beak and originates from Northern China, in Beijing, China, 03 December 2015. Bird trainers, or 'birdmen' to many locals, are often seen in public spaces with their trained birds doing routines similar to a dog owner training a dog to retrieve or fetch an item thrown at a distance. It is believed that training Wutong birds can be traced back to imperial times, when nobles sworn to defend the imperial family during war began training birds as a pastime during periods of peace.
