Filipino police senior inspector Rodeliza Naoy (3-R) stands guard after getting hit by a paint bomb during a lightning rally against the legality of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) in front of the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines, 20 January 2016. An agreement allowing the increased presence of US military forces for training in the Philippines is constitutional, the South-East Asian country's Supreme Court decided. The decision came amid increasing tension between China and the Philippines over a territorial row in the South China Sea. Under the agreement, the US will be allowed to build structures, store as well as position weapons, defence supplies and material, and station troops, civilian personnel and defence contractors. The 10-year deal also allows the US military to transit and station vehicles, vessels and aircraft in the Philippines, which used to host two US bases before they were evicted in 1992.
