Nyakier, who has been living in the PoC since 2014, was given this hat by her daughter from Juba last Christmas and wears it despite the searing heat to remind her of her daughter. Since the civil war in South Sudan started in December 2013, more than 120,000 people are currently living in the PoC, protected by the UN Peacekeeping Mission and assisted by UN agencies. 20,000 more displaced are also living in Bentiu town, fleeing from the ongoing conflict in their villages.
