The detainees, handcuffed and wearing numbered orange vests, walked a gauntlet of Chinese officers in SWAT uniforms and were searched with handheld metal detectors before boarding the China Eastern Airlines flight to Hangzhou, a provincial capital about 175 km from Shanghai.
