The Day in Photos – July 6, 2016

An undated handout image made available on 04 July 2016 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shows an artist's rendering of NASA's Juno spacecraft making one of its close passes over Jupiter. NASA's solar-powered Juno spacecraft will perform a suspenseful orbit insertion maneuver as it arrives to Jupiter after its five-year journey, late 04 July 2016, according to NASA. The maneuver will slow down the spacecraft to around 542 meters per second in order to enter into Jupiter's orbit. When in orbit, Juno will orbit Jupiter 37 times within 20 months. Juno will be the first spacecraft to orbit the poles of Jupiter. The Juno mission launched on 05 August 2011 to Jupiter to collect data on the planetary core, map the magnetic field, and measure the amount of water and ammonia in the atmosphere.
