About 44 migrants from Sri Lanka drifted into Aceh waters after their boat's engine failed on 17 June. According to Indonesia's immigration authorities, the migrants were heading to Australia when their wooden boat developed an engine failure. The Indonesian government decided to fix their boat and supply migrants with food and fuel so they can leave the Indonesian territory and continue their journey. According to local sources on 18 June, the Indonesian military are trying to tow their stranded boat as the refugees were temporarily allowed to stay on land before being sent in international waters.
