Bolivian policemen clash with miners near a blocked road in Panduro, Bolivia, 25 August 2016. The miners, the majority of whom are members of the National Federation of Mining Cooperatives of Bolivia (FENCOMIN) organized the indefinite strike to demand amendments to the Mining Act, as well as improvements in working conditions and pay, among other concessions. According to media reports, there has been at least one casualty during the clashes, as Bolivian Deputy Interior Minister Rodolfo Illanes was allegedly beaten to death by a group of mineworkers.
