The Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) assesses two sub-species of hammerhead shark as “Endangered” and one sub-species as “Vulnerable”. Under Hong Kong law, hammerhead shark fins can still be traded and possessed legally, but unlicensed food kitchens situated on top of residential tower block rooftops are illegal.
