A view of a large Mosaic at Hisham's Palace in the West Bank city of Jericho, 01 November 2016. A large mosaic covers an area of 827 square meters, divided into 38 rugs, this is considered the largest mosaic saved in the world. The mosaic was buried in sand and insulating materials for many years to protect it from climatic effects and was open for the public by the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities for two months. The Hisham's Palace is located north of Jericho on the Jordan valley, archaeologists think that the site was built by Chliph Hisham bin Abd el-Malik (r.724 to 743 AD) and decorated by his heir between 743-744 AD, which date back to the period of the Umayyad.
