Some Photos: Birdies

Three kingfishers on London’s Hampstead Heath, UK. Kingfishers usually nest in sandy riverbanks – an ecology which doesn’t naturally exist on Hampstead Heath. Around 20 years ago an artificial bank was created out of a sand and cement mix to encourage breeding and has proved a successful habitat for the birds in the city. (Photo by Susanna Lascelles)
