Fifteen-year-old Julio Castillo eyes firefighters and emergency services police as they work with cutting torches to remove the section of fence which pierced his jaw at 47-15 48th St. in the Queens borough of New York, July 8, 1989. Castillo was impaled when he slipped while trying to scale the fence, and he was transported to the hospital with the metal bars still in place. Castillo recovered with no significant injury.
