George P. Vierheller, director of the St. Louis Zoo, arrived in St. Louis from New York June 9, 1938 with two gorillas and took them from the station to the zoo in an automobile. The lady gorilla, larger of the two, tries to open the car door, and seems to be considering a dive through the window. In the front seat Vierheller holds the docile boy friend of his discontent passenger. (Photo by AP Photo)
