Highly Commended: NGC 4565 – Needle Galaxy by Andriy Borovkov (Ukraine) NGC 4565 in the constellation of Coma Berenices, approximately 40 million light years away, is known as the Needle Galaxy and is more luminous than our neighbouring galaxy, Andromeda. As we look at this galaxy from the side on Earth, the spiral arms are in a ray.
