Technicians work on a new experimental German Mercedes-Benz at Le Mans, France, June 17, 1952 where it was shipped to take part in the 24-hour Le Mans Race. An aerodynamic air vent on top is used as a brake at speeds of more than 100 m.p.h. It operates without the wheel brake. The door extends up to the center of the car roof and opens upward.
