Some Vintage Photos, Part 2/2

Wearing a captured Soviet army belt, a tough-looking Afghan guerrilla crouches against a wall pock-marked by bullets, February 16, 1989. Only 13 years old, he is part of a special elite guerrilla force that has penetrated 2 of 3 Afghan army security perimeters protected Ghazni City. After capturing Ghazni, the guerrillas plan to go to Kabul, 90 miles away, joining other insurgents massed around the capital, to overthrow the Communist regime. (Photo by Joe Gaal/AP Photo)
