A Look at Life in China

Men rests on the salt hill at the salt fields in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, China, 15 May 2018. As the area of Yangcheng enjoys a mild climate and abundant sunshine, as well as large coastal mud flats, the area forms large natural salt fields. Silver Treasure Salt Company is one of the biggest producers of salt in China, producing more than 400,000 tons of salt per a year on 200 hectares of fields. The company has been producing salt since 1898 by evaporating seawater on the flats and collecting the crystalized salt that remains. (Photo by Aleksandar Plavevski/EPA/EFE)
