A Look at Life in Indonesia

Villagers pull down their damaged house in Kayangan on August 12, 2018 in Lombok Island, Indonesia. Over 300 people died after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit the Indonesian island, Lombok, on Sunday followed by a series of aftershocks which left at least 270,000 people displaced and around 8,400 tourists and resort workers evacuated from the Gili islands. Indonesian authorities have said that no foreigners were among the dead but officials believe that the death toll may rise and their priority for aid agencies is to now provide shelter for the displaced people with 68,000 homes damaged and around 20,000 people who had not yet received any assistance.
