The cop, Celeste Ayala, works in the city of Berisso, in the eastern Argentina province of Buenos Aires. According to local media Ayala had been on guard duty at the children’s hospital of Sor Maria Ludovica when a baby was brought in crying desperately. Reportedly the baby had been bought to the hospital suffering from symptoms of malnutrition. The officer says she asked the doctors for permission to hold and feed him as she could see the baby was very hungry, and hospital staff were overloaded with work. The permission was given and Ayala cuddled the baby and started to breastfeed him, after which he reportedly stopped crying immediately.
