An Ethnic Tibetan man holding a child looks at a huge thangka (sacred painting on cloth) depicting Buddha during Monlam Great Prayer Festival, at Labrang Monastery, in Xiahe, an ethnically-Tibetan town in Gansu province, China, 17 February 2019. The Monlam Great Prayer Festival starts three days after the Tibetan New Year and is held for almost two weeks. The festival is considered the most important event for Tibetan Buddhists. Every year thousands of visitors and worshipers gather at Labrang Monastery to mark Monlam together with the Tibetan Buddhist monks. Labrang Monastery is the largest monasteries of the Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism and home to the largest number of monks outside of the Tibet Autonomous Region. The monastery was founded in 1709. (Photo by Roman Pilipey/EPA/EFE)
