In this December 6, 1958, photo, Michiko Shoda takes the shot as she and her fiance, Crown Prince Akihito, team up for a mixed doubles tennis match at the Tokyo Lawn Tennis club. It was the first time the pair had been photographed together since their engagement was announced November 27. Miss Shoda will become Japan's first commoner queen in more than 2,000 years when Akihito assumes the thrown.
