This 1969 photo provided by Bill Rowntree/PPL Media shows Robin Knox-Johnston waving aboard his 32-foot yacht Suhaili off the coast of Falmouth, England, after becoming the first man to sail solo non-stop around the globe. In the spring of 1969, less than three months before man landed on the moon, Knox-Johnston achieved the nautical equivalent of climbing Mount Everest when he became the first man to sail alone around the world nonstop.
