Wild boars gather in a residential area in the northern Israeli city of Haifa on December 5, 2019. Dozens of wild pigs have taken up residence inside the coastal city of Haifa in northern Israel, after the city banned culling. They rip up vegetation and rummage through bins, sparking a fierce debate between animal rights defenders and those in favour of driving away or killing them. The pigs have long entered the city at night looking for food and water but residents say in recent months they have been increasingly brazen – standing in the middle of streets without fear, digging up public gardens and even overturning large refuse bins.
