The Gaza Strip annual season of collecting red dates, one of the most important products of the agricultural sector, began at the end of September and is expected to continue till December. According to local figures, there are 250,000 palm trees in the Gaza Strip, only 150,000 are bearing fruits, with annual production of 12,000 to 15,000 tons of red dates. Farmers, however, are facing regular issues related to storing and exporting their production in light of border closure and the Israeli restrictions imposed on exported quantities from the enclave.
