The New Zealand government will decide whether to move to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 and ease further restrictions on Monday 11 May. Under Alert Level 2, businesses will be able to reopen with social distancing measures in place; public places will reopen; and domestic travel can recommence. Schools and early learning centres will be able to open and both indoor and outdoor gatherings up to 100 people will be allowed, while home gatherings should still remain small. Sport and recreation will also be able to restart, including professional sports competitions. New Zealand is current under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 restrictions, after the country was placed under full lockdown restrictions on March 26 in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
