Fisherwomen [Oldies]

A Japanese skin diver or “Ama” near the small fishing village of Onjuku in the Chiba prefecture of Japan, August 1959. Divers reach depths of nearly 15 metres to collect seaweed, which they transfer to wooden tubs floating on the surface. The weed is eaten locally as well as being exported for use as a food additive.
