The face masks made by villagers are inscribed with spiritual incantations by Thai Buddhist monk Phra Kru Palad Sitthiwat, known as Luang Phi Namfon, the abbot of Wat Phai Lom, and sold by him, aimed to protect devotees from the growing fear of people in the wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. More than 100,000 of the talisman protective masks have been sold across Thailand.
