Local police said that 174 ethnic Rohingya migrants landed at Laweung Pidie Beach, Aceh Province in Indonesia on 26 December, after reportedly sailing for weeks at sea. According to a statement released on 27 December by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), over 200 people were brought ashore to safety in north-west Indonesia over the past few days. Two groups, some 58 on 25 December, and 174, including a majority of women and children, on 26 December, were rescued and disembarked by Indonesian fishermen and local authorities, UNHCR added.
