Kerkini lake is an artificial water reservoir created in 1932, a very important location for birds around the world for migratory route flyway, one of the premier birding sites in Greece and part of Ramsar Wetland, Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat treaty.
