A Look at Life in Iran

Iranian carpenter Sahar Biglari cleans her eye while working at her workshop in Tehran, Iran, 02 May 2023. Biglari, 41, says she left her job as a math and physics teacher to become a carpenter to break the 'taboo' as woodworking is traditionally considered to be a male-dominated profession. She has become a social media influencer and a celebrity woodworker. “Most of my followers and students are men now, however when I started my new career I received many negative responses from men, but now they respect me and ask for help”, Sahar says. She is considered to be the first female carpenter in Iran to earn money from the job. (Photo by Abedin Taherkenareh/EPA/EFE)
