On 15 May, it became known about the decision to transfer the icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev from the Tretyakov Gallery to the Russian Orthodox Church. According to the message, which was published on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church, the decision was made by the Russian president “in response to numerous requests from Orthodox believers”. On 16 May, the Russian Ministry of Culture reported that the icon would be exhibited in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on 04 June, then sent for restoration, and then to the Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra. At the same time, the department noted that the icon, which is part of the state museum fund of the Russian Federation, will be transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church for long-term safekeeping.
