A person passes a socialism-inspired glass mural in the former German Democratic Republic's State Council building in Berlin, Germany, 15 May 2023. The house was built in 1962-64 as the first representative building of the then communist East Germany after the construction of the Berlin Wall. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the former Council of State building served as the headquarters of the Federal Government's relocation officer from 1996, as the provisional headquarters of the Federal Government from 1999 to 2001, and before and after that as a building for events, exhibitions and congresses. In 2004, the European School of Management (ESMT) took over the building. (Photo by Hannibal Hanschke/EPA/EFE/Rex Features/Shutterstock)
