It was no laughing matter when this hyena tried to steal a kill from a pack of wild dogs determined to protect their meal in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia in August 2023. The larger spotted hyena had seen a group of wild dogs bring down a puku antelope and decided to try and muscle them out of the way. But the wild dogs did not see the funny side and as thes picture show the pack managed to mount a sterling defence against the bigger bully. (Photo by Dave Pugh/Magnus News)
