This photo taken on June 25, 2023 shows Fuwaku rugby club players taking part in a rugby union match between two seniors over 70s teams at the Tochigi Prefectural Sports Park in the city of Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture. The Fuwaku rugby club was created in 1979. They have different colors of shorts depending on their age: white shorts are for those in their forties, blue for the fifties, red for the sixties, yellow for the seventies, purple for the eighties and gold for the nineties. It is one of approximately 150 Japanese clubs that stages competitive full-contact matches for players over the age of 40. Ahead of the Rugby World Cup in France, Agence France-Presse asked aspiring photographers from countries qualified for the competition to show one aspect of the rugby union culture in their homeland, with the help of Canon cameras who are sponsoring the tournament. From Namibia to Fiji via Romania to Portugal this photo essay gives us a glimpse of the core values of rugby on five continents. (Photo by Karen Haibara/AFP Photo)
