A Look at Life in Turkey

Caretta carettas set off towards the water at Iztuzu Beach, one of the best protected beaches in the world, located in Dalyan neighbourhood in Ortaca district of Mugla, Turkiye on August 12, 2023. The hatchlings of the caretta carettas that have completed their incubation period at Iztuzu Beach, meet the sea. After completing their incubation period and getting rid of their shells, the hatchlings come to the surface by digging the sand. The hatchlings, which leave their nests 5 to 50 meters from the sea, set off towards the water, their habitat, despite the risk of being eaten by foxes, crabs and birds of prey.
