Dandie Dinmont Terrier owners and their dogs gather at the Old Ginger statue at The Haining kennel yard on July 23, 2022 in Selkirk, Scotland. Dandie Dinmont Terriers are one of the oldest and rarest dog breeds. The breed originates from the Scottish Borders and is on the UK Kennel Club's Vulnerable Native Breeds list. Every living Dandie Dinmont terrier can be traced back to Old Ginger, a pet owned by the author Sir Walter Scott, who was a frequent visitor to The Haining as a guest of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch. The kennels at The Haining are home to a sculpture of Old Ginger created by the Queen's Sculptor, Alexander Stoddart. (Photo by Jeff J. Mitchell/Getty Images)
