This photograph taken on September 3, 2022, shows a the remains of a shell in the “Olvio Nuvo” vineyard near the village of Paroutyne, Mykolaiv Oblast, amid Russia's military invasion launched on Ukraine. Originally from Moldova, 59-year-old winemaker Pavlo Magalias founded his estate, Olvio Nuvo, in 2013 on the slopes of the estuary of the Southern Bug, a large Ukrainian river flowing into the Black Sea. Since February 24, however, this out-of-the-way, wind-swept spot has lost its usual tranquility. Earlier in the season, bombs would be exploding around Magalias' workers, who are local residents, as they harvested the grapes, but the powerful explosions barely provoke a raised eyebrow among them these days.
