An aerial view of people trying to find their way out of a melting snow maze during an unusually high-temperature day in Zakopane, Poland on February 16, 2024. Poland is now having unusually warm temperatures, during a time, when Zakopane is full of snow and negative temperatures. All snow has melted during the past few days and one of the main attractions, the snow maze is melting and a reduced price has been introduced by the organizers. According to the European Union's Copernicus Climate Change Service, the period between February 2023 and January 2024 is the hottest 12-month period ever measured. During this time, global average temperatures rose 1.52 degrees Celsius. The 1.5 Celcius degrees boundary stands out because it was a limit established as part of the 2015 Paris climate agreement.
