Pictures of the Year 2023, Part 009/224

People carry a burning barrel of tar on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 during the Burning of the Clavie, a fire festival unique to Burghead in Moray, which greets the New Year twice, on the 11th January and the more traditional 1st January. The tradition, dates back to the 1750's, when the Julian calendar was reformed in Britain and the new Gregorian calendar was introduced. People rioted, demanding back their 11 days, although not in Burghead, where they decided to celebrate twice. (Photo by Paul Campbell/PA Images via Getty Images)
