Pro-Palestine demonstrators rallied at New York University in Manhattan, New York City condemning the Israel Defense Forces' military operations in Gaza. Since Monday morning, students and pro-Palestine activists at NYU have held a sit-in protest on campus, forming a "Gaza Solidarity Encampment." The NYU encampment follows a similar encampment that began in Columbia University in New York City less than a week ago. Encampments have been forming in other universities nationwide in support of Palestine. Since the war started on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health ministry said more than 34,000 people have been killed in Gaza, a territory ruled by Hamas.
