People pass a Wagner Group informal memorial in downtown of Moscow, Russia, 24 June 2024. One year ago, on 23 June 2023, Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Russian Defense Ministry of a missile strike on Wagner's rear positions and proclaimed a “march of justice” to Moscow. On 24 June 2023, the fighters entered Rostov-on-Don, occupied the headquarters of the Southern Front, and took control of military facilities. During the mutiny, they shot down two aircraft: an Il-22 and a Ka-52. The next day, the Wagner columns turned around. Alexander Lukashenko mediated the resolution of the situation.
