On May 27th, the iconic events venue is celebrating its 150th birthday with musical performances, film screenings, a food fair and more. The Palace, which sits within the 196-acre Alexandra Park in north London, originally opened on May 24th, 1873 but was destroyed by fire only 16 days later. A redesigned Palace opened two years later, experiencing periods of popularity and extended closure, until the site was placed in public ownership by an Act of Parliament.
